Will Hampson is a composer and arranger originally from North Yorkshire who currently resides in Bangor. Having completed his Bachelors degree in Music at Bangor University in 2024, Will is now studying for a Masters degree in Composition and Sonic Art. As well as composing, Will also plays the trombone, the piano and mallet percussion, and conducts the Bangor University String Orchestra.

The last few years have been incredibly fruitful, with compositions being workshopped and premiered by the Bangor University Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Cymru and Bangor New Music Ensemble. As well as Composition: Wales, this year has also seen Will work with a team of scientists and choreographers from the USA and Canada in producing a 35 minute suite using sets of tidal and wave data. The result, Songs from the Nearshore, will be set to choreography and performed in Victoria, Canada in June, as a part of Canada’s nationwide 'Ocean’s Week' initiative.

After completing his masters, Will aims to develop closer ties with various musical establishments and ensembles to pursue his love for composition and arrangement.
