TÅ· Cerdd / Music Centre Wales seeks new trustees
TÅ· Cerdd’s mission is to support artists, communities, audiences to create, perform and participate in the music of Wales.

And our vision: we envisage a Wales in which music-creators of all genres and backgrounds are enabled to make music and develop careers; in which a diversity of people and communities can engage in and enjoy Welsh music.

If you’re making music in Wales, it’s Welsh music!
We’re here:
-
to bring the music of Wales to audiences across our nation, and to the rest of the world.

-
to protect the legacy of Welsh music of the past, to nurture Welsh music of the now, and drive the development of new composition.

-
to support professionals and non-professionals, performers and audiences, to perform, compose and experience Welsh music.
New trustees
We want to recruit new trustees to join our skilled, passionate Board.

We are keen to receive applications from people with expertise in accounts/financial management (particularly in charity accounting), in marketing and in income-generation/business-development.

The range of activity at TÅ· Cerdd is incredibly broad, and we want our Board to reflect that breadth – and, importantly, to reflect a modern, diverse Wales, which brings with it a range of lived experience, cultural backgrounds and musical genres. In line with our commitments to our Cornerstones, we are keen to receive applications from individuals who are under-represented or have faced neglect or exclusion from the arts community. We particularly welcome applications from disabled and neurodiverse people, artists who are Black, Asian and from the global majority, LGBTQIA+ people, and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

Find out more about us on our website, read our Cornerstones, and if you’re interested (or you know someone who could be), there’s full information on making an application below.
Cornerstones
TÅ· Cerdd's work is built around strong cornerstones which frame its mission.
What does being a TC Trustee involve?
Our Board meets quarterly, and we schedule 12 months of meetings at the start of each calendar year, trying to respond as much as we can to our trustees’ schedules and availability. These main governance meetings are sometimes online and often hybrid (online & in-person simultaneously).

In the months between governance meetings, we hold Board Shorts – more informal, online, hour-long sessions that enable trustees to get under the bonnet of some of our work, and to promote exchange between Board and Staff. Not everyone comes to all of these every month, which is fine; they have created a space for sharing of ideas and increased understanding.

The role of trustee is not an onerous one, but it does of course carry the legal responsibilities associated with being a charity director.

Our trustees tell us they enjoy engaging with each other and with our vibrant organisation. Alongside the serious business of overseeing a charity, TC board membership is a great opportunity to support Welsh music, meet new people and share your own experience and expertise.
So would you like to apply to join the TC governance team?
