Calling artists of colour in Wales, cross-genre!

 

Tŷ Cerdd, Black Lives in Music, TÂN Cerdd & Chapter
invite performance proposals for a
SHOWCASE of musical talent by
Black, Asian and Multi-Ethnicity artists in Wales
on Tuesday 15 October @ Chapter, Cardiff

 

  • We encourage submissions from artists in any genre – from jazz, classical and folk, to soul, urban styles, and experimental.  Nothing’s off the cards – we want to champion the best music being made by Artists of Colour in Wales. The only proviso is that Artists of Colour are centred

  • Artists will receive £300 per person for a 20-minute performance as part of the showcase

  • The showcase will feature around 9 showcasing artists or bands

  • The day will also include sector conversations around moving forward the championing of Global Majority musicians in Wales

  1. Personal details: your name, email address, mobile number, address, confirmation that you are (and anyone performing with you is) over 18

  2. Tell us about your practice:  Tell us briefly about your career as a music-creator and what you’ve been most proud of. (Max 150 words)

  3. Examples of your work? please attach 2 links to your music (film or audio only). [NB: please send links rather than sound or video files; if you need help creating links, let us know.]

  4. Performers & tech spec: please upload details of all performers involved, together with technical specifications/requirements/

  5. Do you have any access requirements? Tell us if there is any support or any conditions you need to enable you to participate in the Showcase.

 

Timeline & process

  • Deadline for receipt of applications: 1000 on Monday 19 August 2024 [NB the portal will close at 1001]

  • The panel (Roger Wilson, Black Lives in Music; Dionne Bennett, TÂN Cerdd; Deborah Keyser, Tŷ Cerdd) will meet soon after the deadline

  • We’ll let you know the outcome by w/b Monday 2 September

 

Who is this opportunity for?

Artists of Colour of any genre who want to showcase their work to the Welsh sector. There are no other stipulations! We want to represent great music, cross-genre, being made by Global Majority artists in Wales, right now.
