CREATE 2021 (£1,350) Hijinx Theatre
Hijinx Theatre’s inclusive house band Vaguely Artistic worked with composer Tom Elstob, to craft 5 songs elevating the creative voices of the band members, and the ideas they feel are important to share in a dark, uncertain but hopeful 2021.
ENGAGE 2021 (£1,800) Beacons c/o RCT County Borough Council - Honey Lounge
In collaboration with Cultvr Lab, a new immersive arts venue, the ‘Honey Lounge’ will shine a spotlight on emerging Welsh MOBO (Music Of Black Origin), and is derived from a brand new artist development strand created by Forté Project and Beacons Cymru called ‘The Honey Sessions’.
INSPIRE 2022 (£2,000) The Successors of the Mandingue - Scouting Fresh Afro-Welsh Talent
This project supported an emerging Afro-Welsh music professional to identify and develop young aspiring Afro-Welsh artists.
CREATE 2021 (£500) Aberystwyth MusicFest - Young Artists' Recital Commission
Aberystwyth MusicFest commissioned Welsh composer Sarah Lianne Lewis to write a new 6-minute solo piano work to be presented live and digitally on the festival’s website and social media platforms.
ENGAGE 2021 (£1,350) Race Council Cymru – Crossing Borders Music and Heritage
Project targeting young ethnic minority musicians aged 13 –25 from different countries and residing in Wales, and exploring how their heritage/background affects the way they compose Music.
INSPIRE 2021 (£2,000) Music Theatre Wales – Future Directions
Programme which sees two professional music-creators work in collaboration with young people to showcase opera as a means of creativity that is meaningful to them and their communities.
CREATE 2021 (£1,350) UPROAR - Three Welsh Commissions
This project commissioned, rehearsed and performed three new 8-minute works for virtuoso ensemble of 14 instrumentalists, from three Welsh composers Joseph Davies, Carlijn Metselaar and Guto Puw.
ENGAGE 2022 (£2,000) Eisteddfod Gadeiriol Caerdydd
Local Cardiff Eisteddfod featuring competitions for youth (primary, secondary and college), learners and open competitions. Includes individual singing, cerdd dant, instrumental and dance competitions for individuals and groups.
CREATE 2021 (£2,000) Swansea City Opera - Shoulder to Shoulder
An uplifting new opera by composer Lenny Sayers and librettist Brendan Wheatley and staged by Swansea City Opera is based on both the poignant and humorous stories of the members of Men's Sheds Cymru.
ENGAGE 2021 (£1,856) Listen to the Voice of Fire — Live from Rhiannon
A collaborative project with Oriel Rhiannon Gallery for contemporary and experimental music.
INSPIRE 2022 (£1,710) UCAN - UCAN Ensemble
This project aims to utilise readily available sound and music technology to enable visually impaired people to develop musical skills, collaborate musically and create their own compositions.
CREATE 2021 (£2,000) Butetown Arts & Culture Association - Ein Cân / Our Song Association (Cardiff)
Commission of a multilingual piece centred around the natural Welsh landscape from composer Jefferson Lobo and songwriters Rufus Mufasa and Keith Murrell. The work, which explored Welsh history and legends and how these cross over into other cultures, was a fusion of Celtic and world music.
ENGAGE 2021 (£400) Bangor University — 100 Years of Welsh Song
Concert held as part of 3rd International Conference on Women’s Work in Music (online) and marking the centenary of a Music School/Department at Bangor University. Sioned Terry (mezzo soprano) and Iwan Llewelyn-Jones (piano) performed ‘100 Years of Welsh Song’ featuring music by Morfydd Owen,Grace Williams, and Rhian Samuel and Dilys Elwyn-Edwards.
INSPIRE 2021 (£1,350) Sesiwn Fawr Dolgellau - Sesiwn Fawr yn Ysbrydoli
Offering Coleg Meirion Dwyfor Dolgellau's Skills for Life and Work students with additional learning needs the opportunity of to perform a song / musical item virtual or live (subject to Covid 19 restrictions), with artist / artists in residence as part of Big Sessions events.
