Francesca Murphy 1961

Francesca Murphy, aka Saint Bernadette, is a versatile and original vocalist, songwriter and spoken word artist from Splott, Cardiff. Starting her musical career in the late 1970s punk scene with her seminal punk band French Lettuce, she has also written and sung on the folk scene, dabbled in jazz as Sunny Hollows and the Dirty Blues and performed live at Cheltenham Parabola and Real World Studios as part of Rob Reed's prog-rock project Sanctuary.  An active member of Ladies of Rage Cardiff, with appearances at Hub Festival, The Moon, WoW and Big Top, she was one of the artists supporting  Kate Tempest at Tramshed in 2019. Her most recent collaborations have seen her work with electronica's Cult of Doris, hip-hop artist Unity and  Cardiff rapper Project. After appearing on several albums as a backing vocalist for other artists, she is currently writing and planning her first solo release for 2021.
