Sri-Lankan born, and Swansea raised, Eranan Thirumagan is a composer with an interest that is divided between conventional narrative work and improvisatory forms. 
 

He studied at Cardiff University and then Leeds College of Music, experiencing difficulties before discovering that he is neurodivergent. Following the diagnosis and subsequent support, his motivations were reignited. 
 

Eranan's work involves everything from following established scoring and structural forms, music providing narrative support to passive and active media to experimenting with generative compositional techniques and exploring different formats for presenting performer interpretive scores. 
Studying the musical systems of differing cultures is something that greatly interests and inspires him. Learning from long standing traditions and understanding the diverse ideology and history behind them helps provide new insights and perspective in his own works.
