I spent a very enjoyable few days at the end of 2013 recording Daniel Jones and Bartók for Tŷ Cerdd. Their record label makes a highly valuable contribution to Welsh music by drawing our attention to obscure repertoire and they are extremely nice people to work with as well!

Working to a tight schedule, as we were on Under Milk Wood, can be a tetchy experience. But during the sessions the engineers and producer at Tŷ Cerdd were unflustered and surmounted all obstacles with a professional calm. Even more impressive was that the end result sounded fluent, balanced and considered and served John Metcalf's new work in exactly the way Tŷ Cerdd set out to do.

The Lunar Saxophone Quartet recorded and mixed their 'These Visions' album at Tŷ Cerdd during 2010 for the Signum Classics label. The quality of the recording was highly praised in reviews across the UK and this is testimony to the expertise and efforts of studio engineer James Clarke. The LSQ would be delighted to record further projects at Tŷ Cerdd and can't thank them enough for capturing the sound of their quartet in such a live, natural and open sounding way.

The task of recording an opera, especially a new one, to disc is a challenging one. At every stage of a complex process involving, in this case, a wide variety of sound sources I, as composer, and all involved in the production of Under Milk Wood : an Opera have been incredibly well served by all the personnel at Tŷ Cerdd. At the launch of the CD at Opera America in NY and subsequently I have received universally positive feedback about the CD and I am happy to put on record my grateful thanks for this valuable legacy of the first production.
