The Fall of the House of Usher

Fall house usher

The National Youth Wind Orchestra of Wales performs Charlie Barber’s new score to accompany a screening of one of silent cinema’s greatest horror films, The Fall of the House of Usher.

Based on a short story by Edgar Allen Poe, Jean Epstein’s 1928 film is considered by many to be one of the most entrancing, atmospheric and imaginative movies of the period.

The live music, played by the 48 strong NYWOW, brilliantly compliments the brooding gothic lyricism of the images. Inspired by sketches for an unfinished opera of the same title by French composer, Claude Debussy, Charlie Barber’s spellbinding score is certain to captivate audiences.
