HOW TO RECORD AND SUBMIT YOUR VIDEO AUDITION
Use the best video recording equipment you can. This may be a video camera or the video setting of a digital camera. If these are unavailable, you could use a smartphone instead to capture your performance.
Sound quality as well as picture quality is important. Listen back to the recording to ensure that it is of an acceptable standard.
Keep the camera absolutely still by fixing it to a tripod or placing it on a separate music stand.
Position the camera or phone so that it films in landscape format.
Make sure that you are not too far away from the camera and that you fill the frame.
Check that you are in focus.
PERFORM THE AUDITION
Introduce yourself – give your name and the title of the work you are about to perform.
Your audition video should be presented in the following order:
1. OWN CHOICE PIECE with piano accompaniment. (You may omit extended passages which are scored for piano only.)
2. NYWOW STUDY
3. NYWOW SCALE & ARPEGGIO EXCERCISE
The performances of each section should each be recorded in one take and must not be edited. However, you may record the 4 sections of the audition as separate files.
PREPARE THE FILE(S)
Review the recording to ensure that the sound quality is acceptable.
If you are uploading several videos, it would be very helpful if you could edit them together into one clip. (YouTube has a simple video editor that will allow you to do this.)
