A word from the First Minister

It’s 150 years since Welsh settlers boarded the Mimosa and set sail for a new life in Patagonia. That settlement still stands, as do the strong bondsCarwyn-Jones that exist between Wales and Y Wladfa.

The cultural connection that we share with Patagonia is not only in the language, it’s also in our music and songs. It’s for that reason we at the Welsh Government are proud to support Tŷ Cerdd and the National Youth Choir of Wales as they embark on their tour of Argentina with concerts in Buenos Aires and Patagonia.

I’m sure they’ll be fantastic ambassadors for Welsh music and Wales as a whole. I wish them every success.

"The cultural connection that we share with

Patagonia is not only in the language,it’s also in our music and songs."

CARWYN JONES
First Minister of Wales
