Argentina here we come!
In October of 2015 the National Youth Choir of Wales travels to Argentina in celebration of Patagonia 150, a century and a half since the first Welsh settlers arrived on board the Mimosa in Puerto Madryn. Our young singers will give concerts in Trelew (Teatro Verdi) and Gaiman (Capel Bethel) as part of the year-long festival being held to deepen the cultural links between Wales and Argentina. En-route to Patagonia NYCW gives concerts in Buenos Aires and we are delighted to be meeting young Argentine pupils in a performance at Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires. Our singers are hosted for a reception and an informal concert at the British Embassy during their stay and give a concert at Teatro Gran Rex as part of a prestigious international series promoted by the Mozarteum http://www.mozarteumargentino.org/conciertos-de-mediodia.
During this visit the National Youth Choir will be conducted by Nia Llewelyn Jones of Gloucester Cathedral, and Camilo Santostefano, the young Argentine conductor who travels from Buenos Aires to work with the choir during the summer.
