Tŷ Cerdd commissions two pieces to celebrate Rowan Williams becoming University of South Wales’s Chancellor
To celebrate the appointment of former Archbishop of Canterbury Lord Williams as the Chancellor of the University of South Wales on Monday 14 April 2014, two commissions by Tŷ Cerdd were premiered at the ceremony.
Processional and Fanfare University of South Wales, was written by the well-known Welsh composer Gareth Wood to commemorate the special occasion. The ceremony was also the first performance of an artistic collaboration involving TS Eliot prize-winning poet Professor Philip Gross, with words inspired by the poetry of Rowan Williams and set to music by emerging Welsh talent Benjamin Vaughan in a work for harp and voice.
