Tŷ Cerdd is delighted to invite you to its second conference in Bangor on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th March 2016. In collaboration with Bangor Music Festival, Tŷ Cerdd will host a series of events that include a pre-concert talk, PRS surgery, choral and brass workshops, and a seminar/ presentation on composers with the newly launched Discover Welsh Music website. 12:00 – 13:30 SEMINAR: PRS for Music, Drama Rehearsal Room, Bangor University John Hywel Morris, PRS Senior Membership Development Manager, discusses everything you ever wanted to know about the planning and administration of events. The seminar ends with a question and answer session.

Come and Sing - Welsh Music from South AmericaChoir

14:00 – 16:00 Choral Workshop with Islwyn Evans Drama Rehearsal Room, Bangor University

Islwyn Evans, founder and director of Ysgol Gerdd Ceredigion and musical director of chamber choir, Cywair, leads a choral workshop of works by the Welsh Patagonian composer, Hector Ariel MacDonald.

11:00 - 17:00 Brass Workshop with Tom Davoren & Paul Hughes Ysgol Tryfan

Renowned conductor and composer, Tom Davoren and Fairey Band’s Principal Cornet, Paul Hughes join forces for a day celebrating Welsh Brass Band music. Tom and Paul workshop music by composers including T. J. Powell, Gareth Wood and Tom Davoren. We round off the day with an informal concert. Bring your own lunch.

The workshop will be suitable for all section levels of brass band player with equivalent experience to examination grade 4 or higher.

A celebration of Welsh Women in MusicMorfydd Llwyn Owen

16:30 – 17:30 Discover Welsh Music Seminar Drama Rehearsal Room, Bangor University Dr Rhiannon Mathias leads a discussion about the works of two major female Welsh composers, Dilys Elwyn-Edwards and Morfydd Owen alongside performances of their works by Ellen Williams and Brian Ellsbury.
