Kate Woolveridge: inspiring confidence in your voice

Kate is one of Wales’ most popular mezzo sopranos. The rich, sumptuous beauty of her voice combined with an engaging personality has ensured her success on both the operatic and concert platform. During her career she has worked extensively with the Welsh National Opera as well as Glyndebourne, English National Opera, Wexford Festival Opera and Swansea City Opera, Travelling opera and Opera Box.
She has won numerous awards, including the Inspirational Woman of the year 2102 for her work for dementia sufferers and their carers. She records regularly for television and has given hundreds of concerts and recitals across Great Britain. She has recently taken the lead in two new commissions for Welsh National Opera working with the Welsh poet laureate, Gwyneth Lewis and the composer, Mervyn Burtch and she is currently working on a film opera for the same company.
Kate has made a name for herself as a vocal animateur. She has run many community singing projects involving adults and children for Welsh National Opera, The Royal Opera House and Opera Holland Park. . She has given workshops in singing across the U.K and has worked with the women in Holloway prison and has set up a male voice choir in the biggest male prison in Wales. She also teaches at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
This year she is joining Welsh National Opera for their spring and summer season and looks forward to singing Mrs. Noah in the cathedrals of Worcester and Gloucester. She will also take the lead mezzo role on a new opera commissioned for WNO and looks forward to giving a series of recitals on a cruise of the Norwegian Fjords.
