About the music library
Tŷ Cerdd has an extensive library of performance and research scores (Welsh composers). Additions are made to both libraries on a regular basis, both by composers and those who have commissioned Welsh music (copies of all ACW funded commissions are lodged in the archive as a condition of grant).
Conductors, librarians, and individual performers (including music students) regularly visit the libraries, particularly to examine works by Welsh composers for inclusion in concerts and recitals, or for research purposes.
The archive houses 4,950 scores of music by 441 Welsh composers, and 1,095 recordings of Welsh music. The lending library of performance scores currently houses 1,150 choral works, over 400 brass and wind band works, 50 pieces for jazz ensemble, together with numerous miscellaneous scores (including tonic sol-fa).
If you are a professional composer living and/or working in Wales and you are interested in lodging scores in the Welsh Music Archive, please contact Ethan Davies at the Tŷ Cerdd office.
